Veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, was buried on Monday in Ilaro, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.
Family members, colleagues and sympathisers, including actor, Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko, Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo and Mr Bolaji Amusan Latin and others, attended the burial in Ilaro.
Ogogo’s remains arrived in Ilaro on Sunday after he died at about three pm on Sunday aged 66, with actor, Bola Oyin-Adejobi paying tribute.
Tears and grief enveloped Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday as the remains of veteran Nollywood actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, were laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
Naija News reports that family members, friends, colleagues and sympathisers gathered in the actor’s hometown to bid farewell to the 66-year-old film star, whose death has left the Yoruba movie industry mourning.
A video from the funeral proceedings showed mourners carrying Ogogo’s remains to the burial ground as the final rites got underway.
Among those present was his longtime friend and colleague, Yinka Quadri, who was visibly overwhelmed with grief and broke down in tears.
Quadri was seen crying uncontrollably as those around him tried to console him.
Those present included Jide Kosoko, Faithia Balogun, Femi Adebayo, Mr Latin, Toyosi Adesanya, Ireti Osayemi and Bisi Omo Logbalogba, among others.
Family members and well-wishers also joined the burial ceremony as the actor was committed to the earth.
Ahead of the burial, actor Bola Oyin-Adejobi paid tribute to Ogogo while speaking with journalists, praying that the deceased would attain Al-Jannah Firdaus.
The burial followed the arrival of Ogogo’s remains in Ilaro on Sunday, shortly after his death.
The veteran actor died at about 3 pm on Sunday at the age of 66.
