National leadership of the CityBoy Movement on Sunday disclosed its determination to garner over 10 million votes among youths for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 Presidential election.
It reiterated commitment to continuously mobilize the citizens particularly youth, and communicate government reforms across sectors in order to secure grassroots backing for President Tinubu's administration, with a view to ensuring political continuity and development goals of his administration.
This is even as the Movement's National leadership inaugurated the Osun state executives and local government coordinators of the movement in Osogbo.
The inauguration of the state, local governments and ward coordinators was jointly carried out by the Movement's National Patron and son of the President, Barrister Seyi Tinubu; son of the Vice President and CityBoy Movement National Patron, Amir Kashim Shettima; Osun State Patron and son of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Femi Oyetola; the National Patron, Hon. Ayodele Olawande and the Director General, Hon. Oluwatosin Francis Shoga.
Recall that the CityBoy Movement, an APC-aligned political group was established primarily to focus on connecting young Nigerians with government policies, economic programs (such as student loans and technical talent initiatives), and empowerment opportunities like grants for small businesses and MSMEs under the administration of President Tinubu.
Inaugurating the state excos of the Movement in Osogbo, the Director General, Hon. Oluwatosin Shoga described the initiative as a ''child of necessity' to genuinely bring all the youths together in a bid to propagate the good works of President Tinubu and speak with a voice towards ensuring his second term bid.
"As you can see, today, we have set up a structure of the CityBoy Movement in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the upcoming 2027 presidential election. We are determined and making sure that we promote the initiatives and achievements of President Tinubu across the Local Governments in the country so that all Nigerians will be more informed and aware of what our President has done and still doing across sectors of the economy.
" Ours is to bridge the gap between the government, people and the communities across the country so as for citizens to know the great works that the current administration is doing and for Nigerians to come out en masse to vote massively for the President in the next general election.
"The essence of the inauguration of the executives at the state and local levels is to charge them on the responsibility of advocating and spreading the gospel of our President in every nook and cranny of the country so that the masses will know that we have a right president at the right time who is determined to change the future of our nation positively and make our country works for the betterment of all and sundry.
" It is crystal clear that Mr President has performed creditable well and if you look at what he has done in all sectors - be it, infrastructure, health, agriculture, security, commerce and industry, education, social intervention among others, you will know that he has performed excellently well.
"President Tinubu has rebuilt our nation and set our country to the sustainable path of greatness. Our foreign reserve which was less than 4billion Dollar is rising on daily basis and as at today, it is over 54billion Dollar, a giant stride and feat ever achieved by anyone before the emergence of our President.
" As of today, our country can boast of so many social intervention programmes and genuine empowerment initiative targeted to bring our people out of poverty, banish hunger and rekindle our collective hope through 'Renewed Hope Agenda' of President Tinubu.
He then reiterated that he targeted 10 million membership of the movement will be translated into 10 million votes for the President, saying, "we are resolute about this and we will work tirelessly to achieve this feat. This is the only way to ensure that younger Nigerians speak with one voice and their voices heard loud and clear", he affirmed.
In his remarks, the State Patron and son of Marine and Blue Economy Minister, Femi Oyetola assured the readiness of the people of the state to ensure all round victory for President Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election in the country.
He said "We are not only inspired; we are motivated, encouraged and fully committed to working for the success of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In the last three and half years, Osun State has benefited significantly from the leadership of President Tinubu, particularly in the area of infrastructure.
"This is not merely a political gathering; it is a call to responsibility. I therefore urge every member of the City Boy Movement to return to your communities and mobilise effectively. Let us take this message from the polling unit to the ward, from the ward to the local government, and from the local government to the entire state. We must work together, remain organised, remain committed and ensure that the support for President Tinubu translates into electoral victory.
"For the first time in many years, the Federal Government has approved several major road projects connecting Osun State to other parts of the country. These include the Iwo–Ibadan Road, Ibadan–Ife Road, Gbongan–Osogbo Road and several other critical road projects. These projects will improve connectivity, stimulate economic activities and create opportunities for our people.
" In terms of political patronage and appointments, I am also happy to announce that Osun State has continued to receive remarkable recognition under the administration of President Tinubu. These appointments and opportunities demonstrate the confidence the Tinubu administration has in the competence and capacity of our people."
Earlier, the State Director of the movement, Hon. Kayode Sowade disclosed the readiness of the newly inaugurated executives of the Movement to register 250,000 members across the state in the next few days.
"Our target over the next thirty days is to register 250,000 Osun youths as members of the CityBoy Movement. It is an ambitious target, and we must approach it with seriousness. Every coordinator must understand the assignment ahead.
"Every local government structure must be active. We must be organised in how we reach people, document registrations and report our progress. We cannot achieve this target by waiting for people to find us. We must go out and meet them where they are.
"This inauguration is not only an important milestone, but it is also the beginning of work. Our national leadership has entrusted us with a responsibility that goes beyond holding positions or appearing at events. We must build a movement that people can identify with and participate in. We must take our message into our communities, engage young people and make membership meaningful.
"Our assignment now is listen to the people concerns. Explain the policies and opportunities available to them. Encourage them to become part of a movement that seeks to give young Nigerians a stronger voice in the future of our country", he stated.
In his remarks, the State Coordinator, Hon. Ajani Gafar reaffirmed the commitment of the Movement in the state to continuously advocate and communicate the good policies of the administration of President Tinubu in every nook and cranny of the state.
Hon. Gafar stated that the Movement remained resolute to deliver on its mandate by mobilizing massively for the general elections.
