A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Glorious People Assembly, Aleto, in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, Deacon Steve Eyo, has died after reportedly collapsing while preaching at a funeral service.
According to Leadership, Eyo was delivering a sermon at the funeral of a female member of his church on Friday when he suddenly collapsed, leaving mourners shocked.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility in an ambulance that had been hired to transport the remains of the deceased to the burial venue.
However, the pastor was later confirmed dead at the hospital.
Reports indicate that Eyo had been preaching about the certainty of death and urging people to live with the awareness that life could end at any moment.
He reportedly began the sermon at about 1:10 p.m. and collapsed approximately 15 minutes later, as he was concluding his message.
The incident has since left members of the church and mourners at the funeral service in shock.
