Taiwo Oluga welcome Babayemi, other leaders of the PDP into the APC
The former federal lawmaker representing Ayedaade, Irewole and Isokan Federal Constituency in the green Chamber, Hon. Taiwo Oluga welcome the former Governorship aspirant of the PDP in the last election in Osun State, Barr. Dotun Babayemi and other leaders of the People Democratic Party into the All Progressive Congress.
Oluga made the assertion during the event organized to welcome them to party in Osogbo and Gbongan on Friday.
According to her, "Esteemed members of our great party, the APC , it is with great pleasure and immense pride that I welcome you all to this momentous occasion. Today marks a historic milestone as we witness the convergence of visionary leaders and dedicated supporters from the opposition PDP who have resolved to join the progressive family, the APC not just here in Gbongan and Irewolede Federal Constituency, but Osun State in general.
While it's an incontrovertible fact, that all of you being welcomed to the APC today are political heavyweight with demonstrated capacity in your various domains, but it is very important to respectfully single out few persons to salute their courage and conviction in taking such a bold step to join the party that is truly of the people.
In this light I salute my egbon;a cerebral political combatant, cosmopolitan and consummate politician, a philanthropist of repute, Prince Dotun Babayemi and my brother.
To my esteemed colleagues and friends who have chosen to embrace the progressive ideals of the APC, I extend a heartfelt welcome. Your decision to join our ranks signifies not only a personal commitment to excellence but also a collective dedication to the betterment of our beloved nation.
As we celebrate this significant moment, it is crucial to recognize the pivotal role that women play in our political landscape. To the women who are defecting with them today, I want to assure you that the APC is a party that values and champions gender equity and women's empowerment.
We believe in providing equal opportunities for all, irrespective of gender, and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every woman can thrive and excel.
In the APC, we see women not just as participants but as leaders and change-makers in their own right. We recognize the immense contributions that women make to the socio-economic and political development of our society, and we are fully committed to harnessing and nurturing their talents and potential.
To our new female members, I say this: seize the opportunities that abound within the APC. Here, you will find a platform that encourages and supports your aspirations for leadership and service. Whether it's in governance, entrepreneurship, or community development, the APC offers a conducive environment for you to realize your dreams and make a meaningful impact. This is very obvious considering the opportunity a person like me and at least two of my predecessors had to represent this constituency at the house of representatives, among many other positions occupied by women across the state while our party was in office here.
This is in comparison to where you just left with a government that has no single female in the house of Assembly, nor any in the National Assembly.
Together, let us continue to work tirelessly towards building a brighter future for our constituency, our state, and our nation. United in purpose and driven by our shared values, there is no limit to what we can achieve.
As I conclude this address, I want to appeal to Nigerians nationwide, that the tough economic atmosphere we are contending with has a very short terminal period. Once the policies begin to yield results, we shall all be happy that we took the right decision. But in the meantime, I charge you to ask those in government in our State what they are doing with the huge resources that have accrued to them since they came to office last year.
Once again, I extend my warmest welcome to all our new members. Your decision to join the APC reaffirms our belief in the power of unity and collective action. Together, let us forge ahead with renewed vigor and determination, as we strive to build a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria for generations to come under the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Tinubu.
Thank you." Oluga asserted.
