As we celebrate your 60th birthday, I honour your remarkable legacy as a former governor of Ekiti State. Created during General Sani Abacha's administration, Ekiti State has been governed by both military and civilian leaders. Notably, Dr. Kayode Fayemi was the third democratically elected governor of the state.
Your outstanding achievements have earned you a special place in Ekiti's history. During your first four years in office, the people of Ekiti enjoyed the dividends of democracy, and the state witnessed rapid development, becoming one of the fastest-growing states in Nigeria.
As an academic and intellectual, your conscience is clear, knowing you fulfilled your duties without any scandals. Although you were rigged out of office in 2014, you demonstrated exceptional character by congratulating the acclaimed winner.
Your commitment to peace and progress is inspiring. In 2018, you contested again and won, fulfilling your purpose and leaving a lasting legacy. You immortalized leaders who contributed to Ekiti's creation, ensuring their impact will never be forgotten.
