Prof. Siji Olamiju, popularly known as Akol, has congratulated the reinstated council chairmen and councillors in Osun State, describing the judgment as a welcome development for Nigeria's democracy. He praised the court for being the hope of the common man.
Akol urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to respect the rule of law and maintain peace in Osun State. He reminded the governor that when our party, ACN/APC, represented then by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola , took over from Oyinlola, he didn't remove PDP chairmen and councillors from local governments, citing this as a valuable lesson from history.
Prof.Olamiju emphasized that the APC is a party that respects the rule of law. He also paid tribute to the late Hon. Remi, the elected Council Chairman of Irewole Local Government, who passed away during resumption to office as duly elected Council Chairman. Akol urged the party to immortalize Hon. Remi's legacy, remembering his dedication to progressive and Osun politics.
Finally, Akol offered his condolences to Hon. Remi's family, praying for comfort and support during this difficult time.
This statement comes after the Appeal Court declared Osun APC local government officials duly elected.
