The chairman of the Oriade Local Government chapter of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSEIC), Mr. Ire Fapohunda, has raised concerns over the delay in the distribution of election materials for today's election. He expressed doubt about whether the election would be conducted as scheduled since OSEIC representatives in the local government were yet to receive the necessary materials.
Speaking during a phone interview early this morning, Mr. Fapohunda lamented the non-availability of election materials, emphasizing that the delay could disrupt the electoral process in Oriade Local Government. Similarly, in a separate phone conversation with a journalist in Osogbo, Mr. Lukman Alowole, a representative of OSEIC in Ward 3, Ijebu-Ijesa, Mr. Omololu Komolafe, confirmed that election materials had not been received. He stated that the delay was already affecting the distribution process to various wards in the local government.
Mr. Komolafe noted that OSEIC officials were on standby, awaiting the arrival of election materials. He urged the electoral commission to act swiftly to prevent potential disenfranchisement of voters in Oriade Local Government.
