The Alayemore Coronation Artisans Football Competition officially commenced with a vibrant opening ceremony today Saturday marked by the presence of distinguished traditional rulers and notable community figures.
The tournament was formally declared open at exactly 4:30 PM by the representative of His Royal Majesty, Oba Olayinka Oyetunde Ishola Jokotola, in the person of High Chief Basiru Oyewale, the Eesa of Ido-Osun Kingdom. He was joined by other esteemed royal fathers, including Oba Olagoke Jimoh Ajao (Olu of Oke Ibukun), Oba Afolabi Adetunji Rasheed (Olu of Gbotaru), Oba Alimi Muritala Adekunle (Olu of Enukoko Town, Ido-Osun), and Oba Olusegun Aderibigbe (Olu of Akangbe Alayemore, Ido-Osun).
Also in attendance were key chiefs and community leaders: Chief Rasheed Aderogba (Balogun of Ido-Osun), Chief Rasheed Odeyemi (Otun Balogun), Chief Asimiyu Adeleke (Otun Jagun), and Mr. Odeyemi Muhydeen, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the tournament. Hon. Olusanjo Fajobi (Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee), Engr. Lasisi Muniru (Member, Coronation Central Planning Committee), Mr. Yakub Yusuff (Treasurer, Ido-Osun Youth Forum - IYF), as well as other members of the IYF, and sons and daughters of Ido-Osun, were also present.
The event kicked off with a thrilling opening match between the Bricklayers Association and the Carpenters Association at Ido-Osun High School. Kabiru Afroo opened the scoring in the first half, putting the Bricklayers ahead 1-0. In the second half, Ogbubia Titus extended the lead, securing a 2-0 victory for the Bricklayers Association. The match concluded at exactly 6:04 PM.
This tournament marks a significant cultural and sporting milestone in the ongoing celebrations of the Alayemore coronation, reinforcing unity and showcasing local talent among the artisans of Ido-Osun.
