Alleged opposition to Defection of Adeleke to APC: It is fake news,I’m not Against Adeleke says Akande
First Interim National Chairman of All Progressives Congress,APC, Chief Bisi Akande has denied vehemently news making the rounds that he issued a statement against the defection of Osun state Governor,Ademola Adeleke to the party saying such statement is fake and didn’t originate from him.
It will be recalled that an on online publication has published a statement to the effect that he described such a move by the Governor to join the APC in Osun “as dangerous,morally confusing and strategically ill advised.
Chief Akande Said that he has never at any point issued any statement adding that the publication is the handiwork of politicians desperate to contest election.
He explained further that for the past twelve months he has told those interested in the state governorship to consult with the parry leadership led by Minister for Marine and Blue Economy and former state governor Gnoyega Oyetola adding that as an elderly person and statesmen he has left partisanship and running of the party to younger generations.
Still on the fake statement,Chief Akande said that he has been abroad for the past three weeks and hence could not have made such a statement.
Said he,”I have been on holiday abroad for three weeks. See one of the many fraudulent statements being issued in my name on Osun politics. I’m an elderly member of APC and because of the generational gap between me and the general run of party members, I refrain from making statements on behalf of the party more so when we have a leader in the party in Osun state.I don’t make this statement. The release is fraudulently made in my name.”
He declared further that the constitution of the APCnis clear as to procedures for joining the party adding, “why would i stop him form joining if he so wishes, the constitution is clear on that.
It will be recalled that the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP stakeholders weekend gave the go ahead for the state governor to join any party he so desired adding that they will follow him anywhere he so wishes .
