Ataoja of Osogbo Installs New Iyaloja, Otun Iyaloja for Akede Iyaloja Market, Osogbo


In a grand and culturally rich ceremony held at the Ataoja Palace in Osogbo, His Royal Majesty Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, the Ataoja of Osogboland, formally installed Chief Osunkemitan Oyeyemi Olalude as the Iyaloja (market leader) of Akede Iyaloja Market, Osogbo. Alongside her, Chief Adenike Adeyemi was conferred with the prestigious title of Otun Iyaloja (Deputy Market Leader) of the same market.

The installation, which took place on Friday, July 25, 2025, marked a significant moment in the traditional administration and community leadership structure of Osogbo, highlighting the pivotal role of market leadership in grassroots economic development and cultural preservation.

The Ataoja of Osogbo, HRM Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, while performing the installation rites, emphasized the importance of responsible leadership and unity among market stakeholders. He urged the newly appointed Iyaloja and Otun Iyaloja to uphold integrity, fairness, and tradition in their new roles, and to work diligently to enhance the commercial vitality and peaceful coexistence within Akede Iyaloja Market.
