Two Years of Impactful and Purpose-Driven Representation: Hon. Sanya Omirin Reels Out Achievements

Hon. Sanya Omirin, the representative of Ijesa South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has marked a significant milestone in his tenure, showcasing his commitment to impactful and purpose-driven representation. Over the past two years, Omirin has worked tirelessly to address the needs and concerns of his constituents, implementing initiatives that have improved infrastructure, promoted economic growth, and enhanced education and healthcare services.

*Education*

1. Provision of 140 Plastic Desks and Chairs to Oro Ajimoko Methodist Primary School, Orogba, Ilesa and St Peter's Primary School,Ijofi, Ilesa both in Ilesa East Local Government

2. Construction of a block of six classrooms at Akinyemi Memorial Grammar School Ifewara in Atakunmosa West Local Government and numerous other educational interventions across Ijesa South Federal Constituency.

*Rural Electrification/Road Rehabilitation*

  

1. Supply  and Installation of 500KvA transformer at Abanise Imola, opposite University of Ilesa

2. Electrification of Ikoromoja Village in Atakunmosa East Local Government.

3. Provision of 33 Solar Street lights erected at Ayeni Estate Area of Ilesa West Local Government.

4. Installation of 119 Solar Street lights in selected Streets and villages in Ilesa East, Ilesa West and Atakunmosa East Local Government.

5. Installation of Solar Street lights in Bonkke and Aralopon Area in Ilesa, Isaobi Village,  Oke Osin Village , Ibodi, Kajola, Osu Town in Atakunmosa West Local Government.

6. Installation of Street solar lights at Sabo Market in Ilesa, Ilesa East Local Government.

7. Construction and tarring of 1km road, Ayeni Estate, on going

*Welfare/Empowerment*

 

1. Distribution of Food items and cash to over 400 aged people in Ilesa West and East Local Government.

2. Empowering of 70 Youths and Women with Palm Seedlings and start-up funds to boost farming.

3. Empowering of 70 Youths and Women with Industrial Sewing Machines and #50,000 start-up funds.

4. Distribution of 1,800 bags of rice to constituents to alleviate hunger.

5. Distribution of various packages of food items including Rice, Garri, Spaghetti, Seasonings, Tomato paste, Vegetable oil etc  to constituents to support families and cater for the immediate feeding needs of constituents.

6. Annual distribution of Rams and financial support for the celebration of  Eid festival. This is done to foster communal celebration amongst constituents, islamic bodies and stakeholders in the federal constituency.

7. Empowering farmers in Atakunmosa East on Palm production in conjunction with the Taiwanese Government.

8. Purchase of a space bus for each leader at local government level. 4 leaders in total.

9. Purchase of a security vehicle (Frontier Pickup) for C Divisional Police Station, Ilesa.

*Health* 

 

In his quest to ensure a healthy community, Hon. Sanya Omirin through his collaborative efforts with professional medical bodies embarked on various medical outreaches in Ijesa South Federal Constituency to care for the immediate and pressing health challenges of the people in the constituency. Through this initiative, he has provided thousands of free eye glasses and treatments, surgical sessions and other health related needs of the people of Ijesa South.

*Bills And Motions*

Hon. Omirin has moved various motions on the floor of the green chambers and also initiated numerous bills that when approved and assented to would put Ijesa South on national consciousness, boost the towns infrastructure and increase the standard of living of the people.

2 Motion: Urgent need to include security studies as a core subject in our educational curriculum

These initiatives,  aimed at boosting entrepreneurship and support artisans in the constituency has changed the face of representation in Ijesa South as the people have been the direct beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries which cuts across party lines, religion, ethnic backgrounds expressed gratitude for Omirin's gesture, noting that it would significantly improve their livelihoods and contribute to the  economy's growth of the federal constituency.

Through the agricultural intervention initiative, Omirin has also promoted agricultural emancipation in his constituency, turning Ijesa land into a massive market for agricultural products. His efforts have focused on palm oil production, cocoa and livestock, thereby creating new line of opportunities for farmers, boosting their production and harvesting and creating direct farmer/consumer relationship which has helped in purchasing cost reduction for consumers and provided a direct sales market for farmers at the same time.

It is worthy of note that Hon. Sanya Omirin's dedication to public service has earned him recognition and respect from his constituents and apolitical bodies in Osun State. He has on numerous occasions and at various fora been commended for his exemplary performance and commitment to serving the people of Ijesa South Federal Constituency. One of such is the Osun State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists that honoured him as a "Grassroot Mobilizer" for his contributions to community development.

There is no gainsaying that Omirin's background in public service, including his tenure as Local Government Secretary, Local Government Chairman, and Federal Commissioner, has equipped him with the experience and vision to make a meaningful impact in his constituency. His commitment to giving back to his community is evident in his various initiatives and projects.
