Apostle Andrew John, speaking recently in Lagos, described Nigeria’s political landscape as a deceptive spectacle, with its true direction set to unfold in about seven months. He declared 2027, previously predicted as Nigeria’s “year of decision,” as currently unpredictable, being blank with no prophet able to foresee who will occupy Aso Rock.
John likened politicians’ frequent party defections whether from PDP to APC, ADC, or others to a charade designed to mislead the public. Most of them represent comic actors trying to showcase cunning loyalty and tricks, that we should not be swayed away by such.
He compared these tactics to the biblical story of Laban deceiving Jacob by giving him Leah instead of Rachel, presenting a “Greek gift” rather than genuine loyalty, whereby presumably what he called "Greece package" He urged Nigerians not to be carried away by such political theatrics.
He noted that many Nigerians recognize these cross-carpeting strategies but remain silent, venting privately while continuing their daily lives. However, John warned politicians, especially those in power, against testing the public’s patience amid widespread poverty and hunger. He cautioned that the growing anger could lead to a backlash, advising both incumbent and opposition figures to limit public appearances. Nigerians, he said, are now wiser and less susceptible to financial inducements.
John emphasized that aspiring politicians must prioritize their communities and the public before seeking support. He stated that God focuses on the “root of the tree,” not just its leaves. He predicted that money, skills, sacrifices, deception, and mercy will shape electoral outcomes, provided elections are free of rigging. Specifically:
• Money will influence many factors.
• Skills will outshine some competitors.
• Sacrifices will sway divine or malevolent forces.
• Deception will dominate negotiations.
• Mercy will ultimately decide outcomes.
John foresaw that by March 2026, genuine prophets and spiritual activists will emerge, upholding truth, justice, and equity with undeniable prophecies. He suggested the political contest might be between four major contenders to be narrowed to two chosen aspirants at the final stage, but expressed concern that one presidential aspirant may not survive to see the election, with no clear victor or vanquished.
Additionally, he warned a gubernatorial candidate to be cautious of a personal assistant who could implicate them in a rape story. He stressed that politics should not be a “do-or-die” affair, as only God determines leadership changes.
Stating further, he observed that the most deadly assumption any politician should posses at this time is the irreplaceable mentality. We all know fully well God has and will never run out of options, where He seems deem fit to replace anyone, he decried.
He concluded with a provocative question: “What if President Tinubu chooses not to contest in 2027?
