The leadership of Ayegbaju International Market, Osogbo, has strongly refuted the misleading claims circulating in a viral TikTok video alleging that the market has been shut down and that traders are forced to conduct business outside closed shops.
Speaking with IdealPlusGist in Osogbo, the Iyaloja of Ayegbaju International Market, Alhaja Ibrahim Kuburat Jumoke (popularly known as Omolere), condemned the video as “false, deceptive, and a calculated attempt to undermine the reputation and commercial progress of the market.”
“Ayegbaju Market is Fully Open and Thriving” – Iyaloja
Alhaja Jumoke emphasized that all shops within the market are fully operational, with traders actively engaging in their daily business activities. “The video is entirely misleading. Shops in Ayegbaju are open, people are doing business, and the market is bustling as usual. Those displaying goods outside are simply attracting more customers and showcasing that the market is open for business,” she stated.
She urged the general public and prospective business owners not to be misled by unfounded social media content. “Anyone interested in securing a shop can visit the market to see things for themselves. Our traders are happy, and the environment is conducive for thriving businesses.”
The Iyaloja extended her heartfelt appreciation to key stakeholders who have continuously supported the growth of the market, including His Royal Majesty, the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, her supportive husband Alhaji Ibraheem, the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Rev. Bunmi Jenyo, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Market Matters, Chief Mrs. Eniola Omotosho.
She also warned those spreading false information to desist, stating that such actions not only hurt the market’s image but also affect the livelihoods of hardworking traders.
