Double Tragedy Hits Nollywood as Ibrahim Chatta Loses Son

Popular Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chatta, is grieving the loss of his son, a tragedy he announced in a heartfelt Instagram post on Saturday. The 54-year-old actor shared the devastating news without revealing the circumstances surrounding his son’s death.

Posting a photo of the late boy, Chatta wrote, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”

His post has drawn an outpouring of sympathy from fans and fellow actors, who flooded the comment section with condolence messages.

This heartbreaking loss comes just days after veteran actress Peju Ogunmola lost her only son, Ayomikun, who passed away in Ibadan in his early 30s. The back-to-back tragedies have plunged the Nollywood community into mourning, with many expressing deep sorrow and disbelief.

In June, Chatta opened up about the pain of losing his first child, a daughter, years ago due to financial hardship and lack of access to adequate healthcare. He recalled being unable to afford a coffin, burying her in a makeshift box made from an old wooden Coca-Cola crate.

The recent loss of his son marks yet another devastating chapter in Chatta’s life, stirring empathy and support from across the entertainment industry and beyond.
