Abraham Moses, a man from Jalingo, Taraba State, was caught impersonating another person during the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) examination. He was allegedly sitting the exam on behalf of Martins Emanuel. The incident was recorded on video and aired on Sahara TV.
During questioning, Abraham admitted he was writing the exam for Martins Emanuel. Officials asked for details about who directed him, and he said he had been contacted by a man named Joshua, who works with the Nigerian British School in Jalingo. Abraham could not provide Joshua’s full name or company details.
Abraham also revealed that this was his first time acting as a proxy, though he had already completed four papers in the current examination cycle. Officials recorded his residence and phone number during the questioning. The incident highlights concerns about exam integrity and the use of proxies in professional certification processes.
In the video, Abraham Moses said: “My name is Abraham Moses. I’m here to write an ICAN exam for Mr. Martins Emanuel. I am aware it is a criminal offense to write exams for somebody. I am not being fair to myself. I was called by someone to come out, Mr. Joshua.”
