The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a strong warning to Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against Rwanda. The cleric declared that failing to win the match would signal that the team has no business pursuing qualification for the tournament.
Speaking on Saturday, Ayodele said his message was a divine instruction meant to serve as guidance for both the players and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF). He emphasized that the World Cup dream would be futile if the Super Eagles fail to demonstrate seriousness against Rwanda.
“If Nigeria fails to win Rwanda tomorrow, let them go and sleep,” Ayodele warned. “They should not go to the World Cup. They should not waste money. Because the players must be very, very serious. These are the advice that God has revealed to me. Go and tell them this.”
He noted that winning against Rwanda was non-negotiable, describing the game as a defining moment for the team’s qualification hopes. According to him, the strikers in particular must rise to the occasion and show determination in front of goal.
“Our strikers must be hunting for goals so that we can go to the World Cup,” Ayodele said. “If you fail to win Rwanda, don’t go and play again. Don’t go to South Africa. Don’t go anywhere. Don’t waste money.”
Nigeria has a rich World Cup history, having appeared in six editions since 1994. However, the team’s recent performances have raised concerns among fans, with critics pointing to inconsistency, lack of sharpness in attack, and poor tactical discipline.
Ayodele stressed that Nigeria still has the talent to qualify but insisted that only focus, discipline, and hunger for victory would guarantee success. He warned that complacency could dash the nation’s hopes of making it to the global tournament.
“This is not the time for excuses or careless play,” he said. “Nigeria has what it takes to beat Rwanda, but if the players are not serious, they will fail. If they fail, then they should forget about the World Cup because it means they are not ready.”
The cleric’s prophecy has sparked conversations among football enthusiasts, many of whom share the view that the team must treat the Rwanda clash as a must-win encounter. With millions of fans hoping for another World Cup appearance, pressure is mounting on the players to deliver.
Primate Ayodele, who is known for giving spiritual insights into politics, governance, and sports, reiterated that his message was not mere opinion but divine counsel. “I am only delivering what the Lord has said,” he concluded. “The Super Eagles must be serious, or else Nigeria will regret.”
