.... Governor's Campaign Committee Hopeless, In Disarray For Fear Of Imminent Defeat
Barely four months to the governorship election in Osun State, the leadership of the ruling Accord Party in the state is in a quandary over the soaring popularity of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), which is spreading like a wild fire across the nooks and cranny of the state.
It was reliably gathered from a member of the newly-inaugurated re-election committee of Governor Ademola Adeleke who prefers anonymity that the re-election bid of the governor has become an impossible utopia because of some obvious pathological attributes of the governor and some glaring acts of his misgovernance in government.
He stated that the highest percentage of the membership of the substantive re-election committee and sub-committees of the Ede-born governor are on the list as a fulfilment of their intention to have an unfettered access to the fund denied them by the governor and members of immediate and extended families who have been the major beneficiaries of the government since its inauguration about 43 months ago.
The anonymous source also made a disclosure that the major reason why some of the leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party that transformed to the Accord Party in the state are secretly singing a discondant tune with the governor's re-election bid is because no one in the incumbent administration can benefit any political patronage in terms of appointments or contracts without the intervention of the two elder siblings of the governor who have not pretended not to be fully in charge of the control of the government and the Accord Party.
Equally worrisome was the fact that these siblings of the governor are fond of stating that they are not card-carrying members of the PDP/Accord Party and yet they are the deciders of the fate of all the categories of the members and supporters in terms of benefits in the state.
It was also reliably gathered that both the leadership and other remnants members of the Accord Party in the state have been discussing in hushed tones the greed personality of the governor and his siblings who have been prioritising the rapid development of his home town of Ede at the expense of the other towns in the state.
The credible source disclosed that he was always mindful of the propensity of his people back home to stone him as he wasn't always having an answer to the propriety of Governor Adeleke dualising and tarring all the five access roads leading to his town and the tarring of nearly all the inner roads in Ede while the roads in the other towns in the state have been in a sorry sight.
The relocation of the Ido-Osun Airport to the backyard of the country home of Governor Adeleke in the Aisu area of Ede where work has been going on secretly day and night despite the directive of the supervisory Federal Government ministry of Aviation to stop same has also been the reason why some of the leaders of the Accord Party have been waging a secret war against the embattled governor.
It was also gathered from the credible source that an option of introduction of maximum violence which was the approach of the defunct PDP in the state that secured pyrrhic victory for Governor Adeleke in 2022 and other National and Houses of Assembly candidates has been thrown out because there is a new sheriff in town who would not condone such inhuman approach to win election.
The source hinted that the traumatised members of the Adeleke re-election committee frowned at the latest introduction of thuggery into the electioneering campaign process whereby some identified political thugs loyal to Governor Adeleke have embarked on the attack of the AMBO supporters and forceful removal and tearing of the fez caps bearing the logo of the APC governor, stating that such attitude is giving away the unpopularity status of the Accord Party and its candidate who has proven to be a difficult product to sell.
The number of some of the political hoodlums used by the defunct PDP to rig the elections in both 2022 and 2023 who are currently in the various courts in Abuja and Osun State has been a source of worry and concern to the leadership of the Accord Party in the state with reference to the forthcoming governorship election.
The choice of Honourable Wole Oke, the House of Representatives member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency who does not have a baggage as the election campaign committee Director-General of the AMBO governorship election has been another source of worry and perpetual fear for the Adeleke re-election campaign committee contrary to the Director-General of a campaign committee whose name is perennially featuring in political murder cases in the state.
The outstanding quality of the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Oyebamiji, in both private and public capacity compared to the place holder status of the incumbent Governor Adeleke, who is visibly a stranger in his own government for lack of capacity in all ramifications is also said to be a veritable sign of imminent defeat of the incumbent governor in the 15th August, 2026 governorship election.
The dearth of quality leaders and members in the Accord Party which was engendered by the defection of the credible members of the defunct PDP to the APC like Pa(Alhaji) Shuaib Oyedokun, Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla, Honourable Sanya Omirin, Honourable Oke, Honourable Taofeek Abimbola Ajilesoro, Prince Dotun Babayemi, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, Barrister Kayode Oduoye and other prominent members of the PDP, has been a source of sleepless nights for Governor Adeleke and his re-election campaign committee.
Governor Adeleke is perpetually getting it wrong in government because he is surrounded by low quality aides who are being propelled by their urge to satisfy their needs at the expense of the securing developmental projects for the state, thus confirming an axiom that a government cannot be better than the quality of the people working in such administration.
