The Ataoja of Osogboland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, has inaugurated a five-member Rain Havoc Relief Committee to coordinate response efforts and mobilize support for victims affected by the recent rainstorm that impacted several parts of Osogbo.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday, April 21, 2026, underscores the monarch’s commitment to the welfare and recovery of residents whose homes and properties were damaged by the natural disaster.
The committee is chaired by the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe (Rtd), and comprises the following members:

Speaking during the inauguration, Oba Olanipekun Larooye II emphasized that the committee’s mandate is to carry out a thorough assessment of affected areas, evaluate the extent of damage to properties, and develop actionable strategies to provide relief and support to victims.
The monarch stated that the committee would immediately embark on visits to impacted communities to ascertain losses and recommend appropriate interventions. He expressed confidence in the competence and integrity of the committee members, urging them to carry out their assignment with diligence, transparency, and a deep sense of responsibility to the people of Osogbo.
“This committee is tasked with ensuring that those affected by the recent rainstorm receive the necessary support. I trust in your ability to deliver and urge you not to disappoint the confidence reposed in you by the people of Osogbo,” the Ataoja said.
In his response, the Chairman of the committee, Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe (Rtd), commended the Ataoja for his proactive leadership and timely intervention in setting up the committee. He described the initiative as a commendable step toward alleviating the plight of affected residents and fostering community resilience.
Justice Adeigbe assured the royal father and the people of Osogbo that the committee would discharge its duties with utmost commitment and efficiency.
“This initiative is a welcome development for the progress of Osogboland. We are fully committed to this assignment and will work diligently to ensure that meaningful relief reaches those in need,” he said.
The committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendations after completing its assessment of affected areas, paving the way for coordinated relief efforts and possible partnerships to support victims.
