A man named Tijani has approached a Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan, Oyo State, to seek the end of his relationship with his wife, Nafisatu.
According to a report published by NIGERIAN TRIBUNE on Saturday, April 25, 2026, he told the court that their union had broken down beyond repair.
Tijani accused his wife of being too quarrelsome and showing him no love or care. He also said she broke his trust by having affairs with other men.
He told the court that things got very bad when one of her lovers slapped him in public. This happened because Tijani stood beside his wife at a function.
The man threatened to hit him again, but people nearby stopped the fight.
On another day, Tijani said the same lover tried to run him over with a car. That was when he decided to leave the marriage. He believed his wife and her lover wanted him dead.
Tijani asked the court to give him custody of their children. He said Nafisatu was not a good example for them. He also wanted a court order to stop her from disturbing his peace.
His words: “Nafisatu was quarrelsome and frequently argued with me. My lord, she also betrayed my trust by engaging in affairs with other men. On one occasion, one of her lovers slapped me in public after confronting me for standing beside my wife at a function. An argument ensued, and he threatened to slap me again."
