Yoruba Nollywood actress Juwon Adewunmi has spoken openly about her unconventional marriage, revealing what she described as an unusual level of honesty between her and her husband regarding infidelity.
She made the disclosure during an interview on the Talk to B podcast hosted by media personality Abiola Adebayo, where she discussed relationships, cultural differences, and marital expectations.
Adewunmi explained that, unlike what many people might expect in a marriage, her husband does not hide his extramarital relationships from her. Instead, she said he is very open about his actions, even when they involve other women.
According to her, he often comes home to inform her whenever he has been with another woman and then seeks forgiveness afterward.
In her words: “My husband has many girlfriends. Whenever he sleeps with another woman, he will tell me. He comes and tells me everything and then asks for forgiveness.”
She added that this pattern of openness is consistent in their relationship, noting that her husband does not believe in keeping secrets from her, even when it comes to sensitive matters.
Adewunmi further stated that he openly discusses his relationships with other women, including having girlfriends, which she said he does not attempt to hide.
She described him as someone who struggles with dishonesty rather than someone who deliberately chooses transparency, saying that his personality makes secrecy difficult for him.
In her words: “He even talks about his girlfriends. He does not know how to lie to me. He will just come and say everything the way it is.”
Despite acknowledging the presence of infidelity in her marriage, Adewunmi suggested that this unusual level of honesty plays a role in sustaining their relationship dynamic.
She noted that while many people may find such arrangements unacceptable, every marriage operates differently depending on the individuals involved and the understanding they share.
Adewunmi also drew comparisons between Nigerian men and white men in relationships, stating that infidelity is not limited to any particular group or culture.
According to her, both categories of men engage in cheating, but she believes there are differences in how they approach honesty and communication within relationships.
She explained that while the behavior may be similar across cultures, the way it is handled within marriages can vary significantly depending on upbringing, environment, and personal values she said.
