It was a moment of spiritual reflection, celebration, and gratitude in Osogbo as renowned philanthropist, community leader and Asiwaju Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta State, Asiwaju Khamis Tunde Badmus, officially unveiled the ultra-modern Central Mosque built to commemorate his 80th birthday anniversary.
The grand unveiling ceremony, held amidst prayers, Islamic lectures, and goodwill messages, attracted prominent traditional rulers, political leaders, Islamic scholars, and dignitaries from across Nigeria who gathered to witness the historic occasion and celebrate a legacy of faith, generosity, and service to humanity.
Speaking during the event, respected Islamic scholar, Sheikh Faruk Onikijipa, described the mosque project as a profound act of gratitude and devotion to Almighty Allah. According to him, Asiwaju Khamis Tunde Badmus chose to reciprocate the countless blessings and mercies bestowed upon him by dedicating such a magnificent house of worship to the service of Islam and the Muslim community.
Sheikh Onikijipa noted that the gesture serves as an inspiration to individuals blessed by God to continually give back to society and support the cause of humanity and religion.
“Asiwaju Khamis Tunde Badmus is giving back to Almighty Allah for the grace and kindness God has shown him throughout his lifetime. This mosque stands as a symbol of gratitude, faith, and commitment to Islam. We must all learn to give back to God and humanity so that Allah will continue to bless us abundantly,” he stated.
The newly unveiled mosque, described by guests as one of the most impressive Islamic worship centres in the region, features modern architectural designs and facilities aimed at enhancing worship, Islamic teachings, and community development.
The event witnessed the presence of several eminent personalities, including former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola; the Oluwo of Iwo, Abdulrasheed Akanbi; the Aragbiji of Iragbiji, Abdulrasheed Olabomi; the Olowu of Owu-Ile; representatives of the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'ad Abubakar III; Emir of Ilorin Council; wives of the Ataoja of Osogboland; and the Chief Imam of Osogboland, Imam Musa Animasahun, among other distinguished guests.
The ceremony was filled with prayers for peace, unity, and continued prosperity for Osun State and Nigeria at large, while guests commended Asiwaju Khamis Tunde Badmus for his enduring contributions to religious development, community advancement, and humanitarian service.
Many attendees described the mosque as a lasting legacy that will continue to serve generations of Muslims and strengthen Islamic activities within Osogbo and beyond.
The unveiling ceremony concluded with special prayers for the celebrant, Asiwaju Khamis Tunde Badmus, as family members, associates, religious leaders, and well-wishers celebrated his remarkable journey of impact, leadership, and philanthropy at 80.
