A woman from Ihunowere community in Nsukka has been apprehended by youths of the community after allegedly taking her married daughter to terminate a pregnancy.
According to reports, the daughter got married last year, but tensions reportedly began after her husband failed to provide food items or gifts to his wife’s family during Christmas and Easter celebrations.
The woman was said to have confronted her son-in-law, who reportedly explained that he was facing financial difficulties and could not afford the items.
Following the disagreement, the woman allegedly invited her married daughter back home. Reports claim the daughter returned pregnant, after which her mother allegedly took her to terminate the pregnancy.
Local media outlet Tower FM Nsukka reported that the community ordered the woman to pay her son-in-law ₦1 million in damages and also perform traditional funeral rites for the unborn child.
