m Arigbabuwo Facilitates Defection, Assures New Members of Equal Opportunities in the Party
The political landscape in Ife South Local Government received a major boost on Sunday as no fewer than 75 members of the Accord Party from Oke Owena Ward 06, Amula Unity, officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a significant political realignment ahead of the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
The defection, facilitated by Hon. Akeem Arigbabuwo, attracted APC leaders, party faithful, and supporters across the local government, who gathered to welcome the new members into the ruling party.
Speaking during the reception, Hon. Akeem Arigbabuwo expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman of Ife South Local Government, Hon. (Prince) Mufutau Adegbite (Eruobodo I), alongside other party leaders, for giving the defectors a warm and cordial reception.
According to him, the former Accord Party members decided to join the APC after losing confidence in their former political platform. He noted that they were inspired by the progressive ideals, leadership, and vision of the APC, adding that they were fully committed to contributing to the party's growth and electoral success.
Hon. Arigbabuwo stated that the new members had pledged their total support for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, in the forthcoming governorship election. He appealed to party leaders and members across the local government to embrace the defectors wholeheartedly and integrate them into the party's activities without discrimination.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Ife South Local Government, Prince Mufutau Adegbite (Eruobodo I), described the mass defection as another clear indication of the growing acceptance and popularity of the APC in Osun State.
He commended the defectors for identifying with the APC, describing the party as a progressive platform committed to development and inclusive governance. Prince Adegbite assured the new members that they would enjoy equal rights and opportunities within the party, stressing that there would be no segregation or discrimination against them.
He urged the defectors to remain steadfast and work diligently alongside other party members to secure a resounding victory for the APC and its governorship candidate in the forthcoming election.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, the new APC members expressed gratitude for the warm reception accorded them by the leadership and members of the party. They reaffirmed their commitment to mobilizing support for the APC across their communities and pledged to work tirelessly to ensure the victory of the party in the governorship election and subsequent elections.
Among the APC leaders and stakeholders present at the event were Hon. James Babatunde (Alaga Chairman), Hon. Gani Oladele, Hon. Yinka Ajibola, Hon. Peter Jolaogun, Comrade Hon. Akeem Arigbabuwo, and Prince Mufutau Adegbite, alongside several other party executives, ward leaders, and supporters.
The event concluded with a formal presentation of the defectors to the party leadership, reaffirming the APC's growing grassroots strength and readiness for the forthcoming electoral contest in Osun State.
