The leadership and entire members of the Congress of Progressives Youth (COPY) extend our heartfelt condolences to Sen. Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru (Ph.D), the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on the passing of his beloved mother, Alhaja Sidikat Abake Basiru, who departed this life at the remarkable age of 92.
We received the news of her demise with deep sorrow and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, knowing that every soul shall inevitably return to its Creator.
The numerous tributes and testimonies that have followed her passing reflect a life devoted to faith, service, compassion, and the positive impact she made on countless people. She was a virtuous woman whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.
While no amount of preparation can ease the pain of losing a beloved mother, we encourage Senator Basiru and the entire Basiru family to take solace in the fact that Alhaja Sidikat Abake Basiru lived a fulfilled life as a devoted Muslim, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. It is indeed a rare privilege to care for and bid farewell to a parent at such a ripe old age.
We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy, forgives her shortcomings, accepts her good deeds, grants her Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and gives Senator Basiru, the entire Basiru family, and all loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
