Fubara Declares Political Alliance

According to report by Nigerian Tribune on Wednesday, July 22,
2026, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has openly declared his support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 while endorsing the Rainbow Coalition, a political alliance bringing together supporters from the All Progressives Congress (APC), factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and other groups aligned with the president.

The governor made the announcement on Wednesday during the foundation-laying ceremony of the Rivien Medical Industry project held in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
His remarks, which were captured in a video that quickly gained attention on social media, are being viewed as a significant political development ahead of the next general elections.

Speaking at the event, Fubara said the political crisis that had previously affected Rivers State had been resolved, adding that peace had returned to the state.

He urged his followers and political associates to identify with the Rainbow Coalition and support all candidates presented under its platform.
The governor specifically declared President Bola Tinubu as his preferred presidential candidate for a second term and announced Kingsley Chinda as the governorship aspirant he would back in Rivers State.
According to him, anyone who believes in his leadership should also support every candidate fielded by the coalition.
Fubara further dismissed suggestions that his supporters should delay joining the alliance in anticipation of political rewards.

He stressed that there was nothing to wait for because he had already reunited with what he described as his political family.

He therefore encouraged his supporters to give the coalition their complete loyalty and commitment.
His latest declaration comes several months after he withdrew from the APC governorship primary election in May 2026.
At the time, the governor explained that the decision followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders and a period of personal reflection, signalling the beginning of his current political direction.
