The Ataoja of Osogboland, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Abidemi Olanipekun, Larooye II, has commended Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, for the construction and commissioning of the Okefia Flyover in Osogbo, describing the project as a historic milestone for the state capital.
The monarch's message was delivered by the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Chief (Hon. Justice) Kunle Adeigbe (Rtd.), during the official commissioning ceremony held on Thursday.
The Ataoja, who was absent from the event due to traditional obligations associated with the grand finale of the Osun-Osogbo Festival, conveyed his royal greetings and appreciation to Governor Adeleke, dignitaries, and residents present at the ceremony.
According to the royal address, the commissioning of the flyover on the eve of the festival's grand finale marks a significant achievement that will occupy a prominent place in the history of Osogboland.
The monarch expressed gratitude to the governor for fulfilling what he described as a long-standing aspiration of the people of Osogbo by delivering the major infrastructure project.
Highlighting the importance of the flyover, the royal message noted that Okefia has served as the main gateway into Osogbo for decades and had been plagued by persistent traffic congestion, accidents, and delays affecting traders, students, artisans, commuters, and other road users.
The Ataoja said the new flyover is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce accidents, stimulate commercial activities around Okefia, Alekuwodo and the Central Market, and enhance the aesthetic appeal of Osogbo as the Osun State capital.
He described the project as "development with a human face," adding that it reflects the administration's commitment to improving the welfare of residents.
The monarch also offered prayers for Governor Adeleke, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength, peace, and success in leading the state.
He appealed to residents, particularly youths, to protect the flyover and other public infrastructure, while calling for proper maintenance of the facility to ensure its long-term benefits.
The royal message further appreciated the contractors and engineers involved in the project, as well as residents of Osogbo for their patience throughout the construction period.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, members of the Osun State Executive Council, legislators, chiefs, community leaders, and residents.
