Press Release By The Honourable Commissioner For Women and Children Affairs, State Of Osun In Commemoration Of The International Humans Right Day

It gladdens my heart to join the global citizens of the world today, 10th day of December, 2019, in celebration of the International Human Rights Day as a citizen of the world and an Honourable Commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs in the State of Osun.

Today's commemoration reminds us that as humans, we all have equal rights which are fundamental to our existence as a people, regardless of our Sex, Race, Ethnicity, Nationality, Language and Religion. But, women and children have always been at the receiving end of the violations of these rights. They are discriminated  against socially, economically, ideologically, religiously and politically. They are mostly the victims of war and human trafficking in which they usually end up being turned to sex workers and child labourers in different parts of the world, against their wish and conscience. This is the peak of man's inhumanity to man and a flagrant violation of women and children's rights.

As we commemorate the International Human Rights Day, the Government of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, through the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Affairs renews Government commitment to give a priority attention to the needs and interests of Women and Children in our State. We vow that under no circumstances will the State violate the rights of children or women or possibly allow those rights to be violated by anyone within the State of Osun.

We enjoin you to remember as we commemorate the Day that no human is superior to the other on the account of sex, ethnicity, nationality, religion or social status and each and everyone must be treated with the highest attainable dignity.

In the last one year of the administration of the Governor, our government has displayed a very high sense of responsibility in the way and manner issues of women and children in our dear State are handled. This is a reflection of our civilization as a people and the commitment of the Governor as a person.

We therefore urge you as  citizens of this great State to uphold, protect, honour, value and respect women and children's rights. We are virtuous people who cannot afford to trample on these rights as a compartment of the Fundamental Human Rights. May we celebrate very many more of this Day.
God bless you as you heed this clarion call, God bless our Governor and God bless the State of Osun.
