Coronavirus: Osun govt inaugurates technical action committee

...reaffirms commitment to healthy living

Following the identification and confirmation of Coronavirus otherwise known as COVID-19 case in Lagos State, the Osun State government has inaugurated a Technical Action Committee to ensure rapid response and management of the disease in the event of an outbreak in the State.

Inaugurating the Committee at a press conference organised by the Ministry of Health, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr. Benedict Alabi, disclosed that the action was informed by the government’s high sense of proactiveness and preparedness to promote quality health care in the state.

The members of the15-man committee drawn across different sectors will be chaired by the State Director of Public Health, Dr. Gbenga Adepoju.

Resident doctors laud Oyetola over approval of new salary scheme 

The Association of Resident Doctors of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Teaching Hospital, Osogbo has commended Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola for approving the implementation of the adjusted Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for doctors in Osun State.

It would be recalled that Governor Oyetola recently approved 100 per cent implementation of the CONMESS and Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for all categories of health workers in Osun, putting an end to eight years of agitation for salary increment by medical practitioners in the State.

In a press release jointly signed by its President and General Secretary, Dr Ogungbemi A.O and Dr Ilori S.O respectively, the association described the approval as a great step in the right direction, noting that it would go a long way in improving the standard of healthcare delivery in the State.

Education Policy: We’re committed to securing our children’s future --Oyetola

The Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has reiterated his administration's resolved to repositioning the State for the betterment of all the citizens, saying that it is committed to securing the future of the children and those unborn.

Governor Oyetola who stated this on Monday while receiving the report of the panel of the Education Policy Review Roundtable Summit at the Governor’s Office, Abere, Osogbo, said his government remains committed to improving every sector as its policies and programmes are driven by citizens' needs.

He added that the need to review the education policy was informed by the people's demand, saying the government would ensure full implementation of whatever that will improve the lots of the people and protect the future of its children.

 "Declare State of Emergency on Infrastructure" Oyetola tells FG

Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has asked the Federal Government to declare a State of emergency on infrastructure development as part of effort to rescue the country from the palpable infrastructure decadence it is currently experiencing.

This is even as the Minister of State; Works and Housing, Engineer Abubakar Aliyu implored Nigerians to cultivate maintenance culture towards the infrastructure facilities in the country.

Governor Oyetola spoke on Friday in his office, Government Secretariat, Abere, Osogbo, while receiving the Minister and his team who were on road inspection tour of ongoing FG projects the state.

Ara Community Commends Oyetola Over Road, Health Centres Rehabilitation

The people of Ara community in Egbedore Local Government Area of the State of Osun has commended Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for the rehabilition of the Primary Health Centres in the town and full rehabilition of major roads connecting the town.

Ara community also appreciated the state government for the recent installation of a new monarch after years of vacancy of the Alara stool.

In a letter of appreciation personally signed by the Alara of Ara, Oba Olubayo Adesola addressed to the state governor, dated February 24, 2020, the monarch lauded the governor's multiple infrastructural intervention and pledged the community's support for his administration.

Osun to Employ 2500 Teachers, upgrade some

Osun State Government has approved the recruitment of 2,500 teachers into public schools in the state and also the upgrading of some teachers whose qualifications are higher than the classes they teach.

The State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Folorunso Oladoyin who disclosed this in Osogbo said 1,500 teachers would be recruited into secondary schools, while 1,000 teachers would be recruited into the elementary schools.

The Commissioner explained that the recruitment will be strictly based on merit as applicants would be subjected to rigorous recruitment exercise to ensure that the best among them eventually emerge.

*Osun to Regularise appointment of Civil Servants Teaching in Secondary Schools*

Governor Adedgboyega Oyetola has approved the regularization of the appointment of civil servants on grade level One, Two and Three who were deployed to teach in secondary schools in the State.

This was contained in a statement jointly released by the Honourable Commissioner for Education and Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr. Folorunso Oladoyin and Mr. Jamiu Olawumi respectively.

The statement noted that the newly regularised officers will enjoy all rights and privileges attached to their new grade levels.

Communities laud Oyetola over rehabilitation of roads in Ede

12 communities under the aegis of Oke-Dada Communities Development Association, have expressed appreciation to Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun for the rehabilitation of Oke-Gada, Barracks, Ara and Awotan roads in Ede.

The association in its letter to the Governor through the state Commissioner for Works, Engineer Remi Omowaiye expressed appreciation to Governor Oyetola for what they described as the positive transformation of Oke-Gada community, adding that, “it gives us tremendous joy to see that the contractor to handle the rehabilitation has been mobilized to the site and work has commenced without delay. Our governor has further proved that when the right people rules, the people rejoice.”
