Amotekun Osun arrests 3 foreign, 21 local illegal miners, seals up mining Site

The Amotekun Corps, State of Osun, has arrested three Chinese nationals, suspected to be illegal miners at a mining site in the state.

During a sting operation, led by its Director-General, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, the Amotekun volunteers, who stormed Ido-oko, an agrarian community in Ilesa axis, also apprehended 21 locals.

It was learnt the sting operation was a follow-up on an intelligence report, which indicated that illegal mining activities were being carried out within the community.

Those Nigerians rounded up at the site include 17 northerners and 4 from South east.

Comrade Amitolu Shittu handed the three Chinese Nationals over to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Undie Adie.

The expatriates were later moved to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) in the Command.

As at the time of filing this report, the Chinese Nationals were yet to produce their working permits and other documents requested by the Police.

Reacting to questions from journalists in Osogbo, the Director General of Amotekun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, thanked the residents of the community for their cooperation; reiterating the resolve of Governor ADEGBOYEGA OYETOLA to rid the state of illegal mining and other economic sabotage cum criminal activities.
