The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of Osun has condemned in totality, the attack fashioned against gov Gboyega Oyetola and his entourage by the sponsored political thugs and hoodlums during the EndSars protest in Osogbo, the state capital.
The party said "it is permissive to stage a peaceful protest for a purpose or to fight a cause, but it is absolutely obnoxious to turn protest to riot or violence to the extent of attacking a sitting governor and his entourage" the party said.
This is contained in a statement issued from the party's Directorate of Publicity, Research and Strategy and signed by its Director, Barr Kunle Oyatomi and made available to the newsmen on Saturday in Osogbo, the state capital.
It will be recalled that on Saturday, Osun APC had earlier raised alarm over the infiltration of the EndSARS protesters being hijacked by some identified political thugs, hoodlums, and miscreants who were sponsored to harass and intimidate members of the public; shooting sporadically into the air to scare public for political reasons and others, best known to them.
Gov Gboyega Oyetola, as a true democrat and people's governor, walked down with "EndSARS" customized face cap on him, and joined the teeming protesters in protest. Having addressed them, the violence broke out and the sponsored hoodlums and miscreants among them started their attack by throwing stones, shooting sparodically, using cutlasses and other dangerous weapons to the extent that almost all official vehicles conveying the governor and all his entourage were seriously vandalized.
Osun APC therefore called on Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu as well as Director of State Security (DSS) to investigate the attack on the governor and ensure that all perpetrators of the violence and their sponsors were brought to book in no distant time.
Oyatomi stressed that since it is now vividly glaring that the protest has been truely hijacked for either political or ulterior purpose, the party therefore called security agencies to as a matter of necessity, come out and take control to avoid further breaking of law and order, so that our beloved State can be jealously guarded and guided.
