I am constrained to respond to the unjust 'mob' attack on my person by some Nigerians for sharing the picture of the lady, Rafiat Ayinde, who led the assault on my team and the Osun SSG on Saturday.
I believe that my response will guide well-meaning Nigerians to make up their minds on the propriety or otherwise of my action as a trained journalist and a troubleshooter.
Let me state emphatically from the outset that I don't know the lady under reference from Adam.
Yes, she might be carrying the Nigerian flag, her conduct from the time we arrived Olaiya up until the time the attack on us took place fell short of a lady out for a peaceful protest.
The curses on my person forced me to further profile her. The things those who know her are saying are not complementary. I won't repeat them here.
Suffice to say that my findings further confirmed that she is one of those attending protests to forment trouble.
If we had given in to her antics and provocation, the attack on us would have probably been hastened.
Barely 20 minutes into our arrival at the Protest Ground, she charged at our Camera man and (woman) roughhandled him. She insisted he must stop recording the proceedings. When one of the guys in our team intervened, she slapped him.
She also charged at one of our colleagues who intervened. It took my intervention to calm the situation. I rebuked the guy for even exchanging words with her. I pleaded and pleaded with her before she gave us some distance.
Back to the attack on the SSG, I saw her clearly wielding a big stick with which she used to smash the SSG's vehicle.
Those attacking me without the knowledge of what transpired, I pray you don't suffer for what you know nothing about.
I am convinced she is one of those who pretend to be a protester, but who attend protests with ulterior motives. As I write this, my colleague who had a deep cut on the head is still lying critically ill at the hospital.
Finally, I leave you all with this: if you do good and people are cursing you, your handiwork will acquit you. Conversely, if you are doing bad and people are praying for you, your handiwork will incriminate you as well.
The law of retributive justice -- positive or negative -- operates on a neutral and just pedestal.
