It is with great joy and humility that I stand before great and esteemed Nigerian Students, dignitaries, intellectuals, erudite scholars, and UNIOSUN community, on this auspicious day of my inauguration as the pioneer President, Student Union, Osun State University. It is indeed that Today shall forever remain an historical moment of my life.

Permit me to start by being grateful to Almighty God, the uncreated creator. He has made us gather here today peacefully to witness this occasion which marks the first Students' Union inauguration in the history of our great University.

On behalf of the entire students of this great citadel of learning, I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the University Management under the leadership of our amiable Vice Chancellor who also doubles as our father Prof. Labode POPOOLA, who out of his magnanimity allowed the students to exercise their franchise and ensured that their votes counted.

I also want to thank in a special way the Dean Student Affairs, Dr. Oluseye Abiona, a man of substance, for being able to withstand the negative pressures that arose during the election period and for also ensuring a free, fair, credible and democratic students election, You are indeed filled with strength, valour, efficacy, potency, and dexterity.

We owe a debt of gratitude to our past comrades, alumni members, leaders and brothers who has one way or the other contributed their quota to the betterment of this great University. It is of no doubt that we are here today as a result of their long lasting efforts, sacrifices and impacts so as to ensure students of Osun State University have an avenue by which they unionize.

I am here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust put on us and careful of our true values as a Union. What brings us together as a Union is not from the campus we belong neither our faculty nor the department we come from but from the enduring spirit of achieving a common goal as intellectual fighters for Emancipation.

Today, we affirm our unity, our strength and our intellectuality as a Union. And as from today, our journey will never be the journey for the weak. But the journey in the story of the courageous, book of the bright, thoughts of the thinkers and insight of intellectuals and forever being a sincere ambassador of peace. This is the journey we will continue on today as a Union.

The slogan of our campaign was M.E.N.S, “Movement for Emancipation of Nigerian Students” and this shall remain the guiding principle of our administration. This administration’s agenda will focus on ensuring peaceful academic environment/stable academic calendar in a conducive environment, ensuring an improved academic; welfare of students, construction of Students’ Union building and purchases of Students' Union buses in our various campuses, establishment of Students’ Union health committee to improve health delivery, improving the transportation system in all the six campuses, right of students to reasonable internet access for academic purposes, higher order integration in social activities, work against insecurity, zero tolerance for  cultism, rape, physical assault and threat, and ensuring improvement of access to work and study scheme of the University. Though the way and manner to achieve all these has been given in the manifesto but to also bring about the expected result, we will work with the Management.

It is on this note that I, OLANREWAJU MUIDEEN OLUWATOBI (AJITECH) with the mandate of my fellow Nigerian students’ humble request and plead for the following;

Renovation and introduction of new buildings into other campuses of our great University so they can also feel and enjoy the taste of being in higher institution.

 Deployment of  buses into all campuses so as to ease the free movement of our students.

Provision of office space across the six campuses as this will enhance coordination of various activities of OSUSU.

 Increase in number of staff at the University Heath centres and the pharmacy section should be well stocked with drugs so that Heath delivery services will be effective.

 We plead that the rate of the withdrawal of students from the University on academic grounds be reduced through legitimate means.

 Prompt release of Association dues.

 Resuscitation of provision of access to WiFi facilities so as to enhance academic performance.
