A sociopolitical association committed to ensuring good governance and continuity of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola's government in Osun, Ilerioluwa Vendors group, has congratulated people of the state over public-friendly policy implementations and good performance by the governor, which were both remote and immediate yardsticks for his assessment and eventual conferment of award as Best Governor of the Year 2020 by the _BusinessDay_ newspaper.
In a congratulatory statement issued by the General Secretary of the association, Jimoh Olorede, the group with 36,844 members across the thirty local government areas of the state celebrated Oyetola, who they referred to as 'marketable product for the vendors', given his proven records of many strides and unprecedented performance as governor of Osun.
According to the statement, the Originator and General Coordinator of the group, Prince Dayo Babaranti, said the award was not only well-deserved and meritorious, but described it also as confirmatory of Oyetola's excellent performance.
He said: "It sounds contradictory and surprising but however confirmatory of good performance, that a governor of a state with almost the lowest federal allocation, which is the main source of revenue for state governments in Nigeria, as evidenced in monthly fiscal disbursement by the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), could emerge, via neutral and objective assessment by the credible news medium, _BusinessDay_ newspaper, as Best Governor in the country.
"While we congratulate the entire state on this feat, we, as vendors, are celebrating our marketable product, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, for his unique selling proposition, which is quality service delivery that's fast turning Osun into a mega, enviable state".
The group, in the statement, urged the people of the state to reciprocate the governor's gesture of good governance by discharging their civic responsibilities, especially prompt payment of their taxes and other obligatory levies, and by also demonstrating continuous support, throwing their weights behind him in terms of prayers and sincere solidarity.
