The Government of the State of Osun has reiterated its determination to support local manufacturers and promote made in Osun goods as it is one major way to economic growth and development.
The Commissioner for Commerce , Industry, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr Bode Olaonipekun stated this on behalf of the State Government during an interactive session with business communities which was aimed at identifying their challenges and the way forward.
Some of the challenges identified by the business communities are ;cost of registration and requirements by NAFDAC, finance, factory presentation, packaging,tax among others.
Speaking further, the Commissioner said, the economy of any nation grows rapidly when locally made products are promoted through patronage, first by its people and then through export.
He promised to address the numerous challenges mentioned by the manufacturers, especially registration of NAFDAC for ease of doing business in the state.
Dr Olaonipekun however charged them to produce quality products as this would encourage people to buy made in Osun goods without compromising the quality and standards.
The Commissioner disclosed that to encourage them, there would be gallery to show case made in Osun Products.
The President of Osun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture ( OSSCCUMA), Engr.Bisi Makanjola appreciated the efforts of the Commissioner towards local manufacturers since his inception in office.
Present at the meeting were representative of Osun State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OSUCCIMA), Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises ( NASME), Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industrialists (NASSI), Coordinating Director of the Ministry, Mrs Kehinde Odediran, Director Commerce and Investment Promotion, Mrs Ajibola Falode, Director of Industry, Mr Tajudeen Adigun among others.
