NAOSS honours Osun First Lady, confers ‘Icon of Loyalty’ Award on the Deputy Governor, SSA receive ‘Ambassador of Women and Youths Development' Award.


The National Association of Osun State Students, University of Ilorin Chapter held her Annual Youth & Leadership Colloquium in honour of her excellency, Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, First Lady State of Osun and Chairperson Ilerioluwa Development Initiative.


The Colloquium which held on 1st of April, 2021 at the University of Ilorin Auditorium is an annual event that brings NAOSSITES and entire UNILORITES together and closer to greater personalities within the school and from the State of Osun. This annual event serves as a powerful catalyst to align leaders, develop solutions to contemporary challenges, introduce new strategies, provide mentorship opportunities, foster unity and collaborations among students and personnel from various fields.


The president of the association, Adegoke Rahman popularly called ARATUNJI described the First Lady as a woman of virtue and inestimable worth. Citing some of her philanthropic and heroic activities, such as: the fight against Gender Based Violence GBV, campaign against open defecation, Distribution of farm inputs to farmers, Distribution of palliatives & other relief items especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing financial and other assistance to women and children and so many worthy strides as the motivation for the honour.








He also eulogized her motherly role especially in the area of support rendered to the Governor Adegboyega Oyetola led administration.


In the same vein, the association conferred on the Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Olugboyega Alabi the title of ‘ICON OF LOYALTY’ for being a loyal Deputy to Governor Gboyega Oyetola. 


In his remarks, Aratunji described the diligence of the deputy Governor as worthy of emulation. “The synergy that exist between Mr. Governor and his deputy is one major reason for steady development in the state”, he added.


The SSA to the Governor on O-MEALS Alhaja Folake Olaniyan also received the AMBASSADOR OF WOMEN AND YOUTHS DEVELOPMENT award. While extolling the SSA, Aratunji described her zeal towards supporting youths and women in the state as second to none. “She has facilitated so many opportunities for our youths in the state of Osun and has used her office to empower many more women” he added.


Delivering keynote addresses at the event were the Honourable commissioner for Women, Children and Social Affairs, Barr. Olubukola Olaboopo. In her remarks, she emphasized the need for Nigerian youth to engage in personal development and Networking. She also appreciated the leadership of the association for putting together such wonderful event. 


In his own remarks, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Hon. Yemi Lawal ably represented by Adedayo Adeniyi popularly known as Dayo Nigeria emphasized the need for youth to be intentional about everything they do.


The president also used this opportunity to appeal to youths in the state to support the incumbent government in all ramifications, saying Good governance is a collective responsibility.
