As part of efforts towards improving the standard of living for persons Living with Disabilities (PLWD), the Osun State Government has empowered persons with disabilities in the state with cash to ameliorate their plight.
The ATM card which has been credited with funds were distributed to the beneficiaries at the event, held at the lodge of The Joint National Association of Person With Disability, Testing Ground Area, Osogbo.
While handing over several ATM Cards to the beneficiaries on behalf of the state government on Monday; the State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Co-operatives and Empowerment, Dr Bode Olaonipekun, explained that the empowerment is aimed at ensuring that these set of people are self sustained and in line with the state government's commitment to wealth creation and poverty eradication among its citizenry.
The Commissioner charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the Money given to them so as to move out of poverty to prosperity, he added that the government will carry out a follow-up to ensure that they are using it for what it is meant for.
He assured that the state government will continue to provide friendly environment for them to harness their full potentials, he urged the Physically challenge person in the state to vote enmasse for the Re-election of Governor Gboyega Oyetola on July 16th gubernatorial election so as to continue to enjoy the good governance of the present administration.
Also speaking, is the State Chairman of the Joint National Association of Person With Disability (JONAPID), Mr Stephen Oluwafemi who appreciated the state government for taking their welfare as priority, as well as in the food support scheme and skills acquisition programmes of the state.
He also urged his people to continue their unflinching support to the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola so as to take the state to a greater heights in no distant time. He stressed that their disability does not potent their inability. And that despite their conditions, they are still very useful to the state and to Society in general.
In the Same vein, one of the beneficiaries of the GBOWOGA Business Grant: Mrs Funmilayo Abdullahi and Mr Adebayo Muritala applauded the state government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr Bode Olaonipekun for the gesture; and that, they have never had it so good in the state prior to the era of this present administration.
The duo however advised other Co- beneficiaries to imbibe the spirit of creativity and hard-work to succeed in life.
