The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to desist from assaulting the sensibilities of the right-thinking members of the society with its puerile and ineffective damage control of the beans spilled by one Engr Kehinde Raji a.k.a. 'ARAJ' on an alleged treacherous activities of former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Right Honourable Najeem Salam.
ARAJ had on Monday, on a Radio interview revealed how Hon. Salam engaged in an anti-party activities against the APC candidates during the series of elections that were held in the state.
He disclosed among other things that Salam, a political ally of Mr Rauf Aregbesola, the immediate-past Minister of Interior, who professed to be a chieftain of the APC, actually worked against the APC in favour of the PDP during the 2022 governorship and 2023 general elections in the state.
ARAJ stated further that the Adeleke Political Dynasty of Ede sent N4 million to the former Speaker Salaam, through him to address some security issues for the PDP shortly before the last governorship election in the state.
But Honourable Sunday Bisi, the state chairman of the PDP, yesterday issued a statement that the public should disregard the volunteered information of ARAJ on the N4 million sent to Salaam through the bank account of ARAJ.
Reacting, the Osun State Chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party's Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital today, observed that the damage control of the leadership of state PDP on the issue at stake could neither fly nor sit.
Lawal stated that the statement issued by the state leadership of the PDP defending the former Speaker Najeem Salaam was a pointer to the fact that there was more to the disclosure than meet the eyes.
He explained that the manner of the defence of Salaam by the PDP was an indication that the leadership of the state PDP lacks political diplomacy and tact as it shouldn't have been their business if there is no amity between the PDP and the former Speaker.
The State APC chairman asked rhetorically why the PDP leadership should shoulder the responsibility of engaging in a damage control mission for Salaam who professed to be a chieftain of the APC as at the time in question.
In Lawal's words:. "ARAJ who was not speaking under the influence of alcohol or known to have any memory health challenge knew what he was saying and there was no proof that he was speaking under duress.
"There's hardly no difference between ARAJ and the PDP state chairman on their less than dignified approach to the issue at stake as it affects the barefaced revelation of how Salaam, one of the appointees of the former President Muhammed Buhari, brazenly worked against the APC in all the elections held in the state in 2022 and 2023.
"The meaning of any word spoken at any particular point in time is not total while any spoken word is like a proverbial broken egg that cannot be salvaged once it has broken up.
"We won't delve deeper into the Salaam issue more than this in order not to be found guilty of usurping the statutory roles of the Prof Issac Adewole-led repositioning committee put in place by the leader of the APC in Osun State, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, the immediate-past Governor of the state.
"Assuming without conceding yet that the ARAJ allegation of anti-party activity against the Ejigbo-born Salaam, one of the superlative beneficiaries of the APC as a Director in the Nigerian Communication Satellite Limited (NigComSat) is true, do we need to wonder that the Osun APC lost the series of the last elections due to the treacherous activities of some Salaams in our midst?
"If not for an ulterior motive against the APC, discerning minds would wonder what the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly who is the second-in-command to Aregbesola, the self-acclaimed patron of the infamous, dissolved The Osun Progressives (TOP), be doing with the Adeleke family's N4 million 'to sort some security issues during the elections' as it was exposed by Engr Kehinde Raji when the same Salam got logistics support from our leader, Adegboyega Oyetola to prosecute the same election.
"Sunday Bisi and his co-travellers have missed this their damage control assignment as the mad man has already strayed into the market square where it is entertaining all the patrons to the market free of charge", Lawal stated.
