ONSU IREE Chapter Celebrates Annual Oroki Day Today, Recognizes Contributors to Osogbo's Development with Awards


The Osogbo National Students Union (ONSU), Osun State Polytechnic, Iree Chapter, is set to hold its highly anticipated Annual Oroki Day Celebration today, Saturday, 9th November 2024. The event will take place at the MPH 2 Hall, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree Campus, starting from 10:00 AM.


This year’s celebration will focus on honoring individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the progress and development of Osogbo. The event promises to be a memorable occasion, as awards will be presented to those whose efforts have had a lasting impact on the cultural and socio-economic development of both Osogbo and the Union.


In a statement released to the press, the Outgoing President of ONSU Iree Chapter, Lady Comrade Folorunsho Zainab Opeyemi (commonly referred to as the "First Lady"), emphasized the importance of the day. According to Lady Comrade Opeyemi, Oroki Day is an annual tradition that serves as a platform for celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Osogbo, while also recognizing those who have made remarkable strides in shaping the community.


"This day is a momentous occasion for us, as we not only reflect on our cultural roots but also acknowledge the contributions of those who have worked tirelessly to foster the development of Osogbo and our Union," she said. "It is important that we celebrate the individuals and organizations whose hard work continues to inspire and move our community forward."


The event will feature a range of activities, including the award ceremony, speeches from prominent figures, and cultural performances that highlight the uniqueness of Osogbo’s heritage.


ONSU Iree Chapter invites students, alumni, and members of the Osogbo community to join in this celebration of culture, unity, and progress.
