ONSU Iree Chapter Honors Evang. Matilda Farinde with Award of Excellence


The Osogbo National Students Union (ONSU), Iree Chapter of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has presented an Award of Excellence to the President of the Brave Women Progressive Association Worldwide, Evangelist Matilda Dele Farinde, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the development of Osogbo and her impactful work towards the betterment of humanity.


The award ceremony took place on Saturday during the Union’s Annual Oroki Day Celebration, an event dedicated to celebrating the cultural heritage and traditions of Osogbo, the ancient city of Osogbo. The occasion brought together students, community leaders, and cultural enthusiasts who gathered to honor individuals whose efforts have significantly contributed to the growth and upliftment of Osogbo and its people.


Evang. Matilda Dele Farinde was honored for her unwavering dedication to social welfare, her leadership in empowering women, and her continued support in fostering community development projects that have benefited both local and global communities. Her organization, the Brave Women Progressive Association Worldwide, has worked tirelessly to advance women’s rights, provide education, and create opportunities for economic independence and social equity.



Speaking at the event, the President of ONSU Iree Chapter, Lady Comrade Folorunsho Zainab Opeyemi (First Lady) highlighted Evang. Matilda Farinde’s selfless service and her tireless commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. “We are proud to recognize an exceptional leader who has consistently demonstrated the true essence of community service and advocacy. Evang. Matilda Farinde’s work has transcended borders and has positively impacted lives in Osogbo and beyond. It is a great honor to present her with this Award of Excellence,” she said.


The award was presented to Evang. Matilda Farinde by the Former President of the union, Comrade Akindele Rauf Adediran (O'Rauf).


Evang. Matilda Farinde, in her acceptance speech, expressed her gratitude for the recognition and reiterated her commitment to continue serving humanity. “This award is not just for me, but for every woman and child whose life I have touched and for those I will continue to inspire. It is a call to action for all of us to work together to build a society where everyone has the opportunity to thrive,” she said.


The Oroki Day Celebration, which also featured cultural performances and presentations on the rich history of Osogbo, was an unforgettable event that highlighted the unity of the students, the community, and the leadership of Osogbo.
