Asiwaju of Osogboland, Hon. Justice Adeigbe, Visits Air Force Research Institute in Osogbo, Pledges Support for Establishment of a School Within the Base

In a significant step toward strengthening civil-military collaboration and enhancing educational opportunities in Osogbo, the Asiwaju of Osogboland, Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe (Rtd), paid a courtesy visit to the Air Force Research and Development Institute (AFRDI) in Osogbo. During the visit, he pledged support for the construction of a school within the base, a move aimed at boosting educational development in the state capital and its environs.

The distinguished visit took place at the AFRDI headquarters, where Hon. Justice Adeigbe was warmly received by the Director General of the Institute, Air Vice Marshal Paul Oahimire, and Squadron Leader Adeolu Adekoya. The Asiwaju was accompanied by a delegation of notable Osogbo leaders, further underscoring the unity and collaborative spirit of the Osogbo community.

Delivering a goodwill message from the Ataoja of Osogboland, His Royal Majesty Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun Larooye II, Hon. Justice Adeigbe conveyed the monarch's unwavering support for the Institute and commended its role in national development and security innovation.

He also expressed his personal commitment, alongside other traditional and civic leaders in Osogbo, to work with the Institute in establishing a standard school that will serve both the military base and the wider community.

“The education of our young people is of utmost importance, and partnering with AFRDI to build a school here will not only benefit the residents of this base but also the indigenes of Osogbo and surrounding communities. We are committed to making this vision a reality,” Hon. Justice Adeigbe stated.

In his response, Air Vice Marshal Paul Oahimire expressed deep appreciation for the visit and the goodwill extended by the Ataoja and his emissary. He acknowledged the importance of such a partnership and reiterated the Institute’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives that will foster social progress.

“We are honored by the visit of Hon. Justice Moshud Adekunle Adeigbe (RTD) and the delegation from Osogbo. Their promise to support the establishment of a school within our facility is both encouraging and commendable. The Air Force Research and Development Institute remains committed to advancing education and contributing to the betterment of society,” AVM Oahimire said.

The Osun State Ministry of Education was represented by Mr. Olawale, Mr. Afolabi, and Mrs. Jayeola. The ministry commended the initiative of the Asiwaju of Osogboland and others involved in constructing school facilities within the Air Force Base. They also conducted an inspection of the land allocated for the school's development.

The visit featured the presence of several other notable figures, including Comrade Abodunrin Abod, Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Osogbo Local Government; Alhaji Chief Kamarudeen Yusuf Efe, Otun Babaloja of Sasa Market and representative of the Ataoja in Osogbo markets; and Mr. Isa, among others.

This collaborative initiative between the traditional institution and the military establishment reflects a shared vision for community development, particularly in the realm of education, and sets the tone for future joint projects that will uplift the people of Osogbo and beyond.
