Tech-Driven Future and Youth Inclusion Take Center Stage as NYAN Urges Newly Elected Leaders of NYCN Cross River State Chapter to Prioritize Skill Empowerment and Innovation

Cross River State, Nigeria — In a significant stride toward youth inclusion in leadership, the Cross River State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has successfully conducted elections across all 18 Local Government Areas, ushering in a new wave of youth leaders across the state.

Among the newly elected leaders is Comrade Clifford Neji Ayambem, who emerged as the Chairman-elect of the NYCN Ikom Chapter. His election marks a renewed hope for youth participation, grassroots mobilization, and development in Ikom Local Government Area.

In a show of solidarity, the National Youth Assembly of Nigeria (NYAN), Ikom Chapter, a youth-driven organization committed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has extended heartfelt congratulations to all newly elected NYCN (National Youth Council of Nigeria) Chairmen across the state.

Speaking on behalf of the Assembly, the State Speaker of NYAN Cross River Chapter, Rt Hon. Bassey Nton Nton, congratulated Comr. Clifford Neji on his well-deserved victory and emphasized the importance of visionary leadership in driving youth-centric policies and initiatives.

“It is encouraging to see that Nigerian youths are increasingly becoming politically conscious and active,” Hon. Nton Nton stated in an exclusive interview with Ideal Plus Gist, a private new platform in Uyo, Akwa IbomState. 

“However, we must understand that politics alone cannot solve the issues of youth unemployment and economic marginalization.”

Nton Nton, a cybersecurity expert, IoT specialist, and IT consultant, passionately called on Nigerian youths to prioritize skill acquisition, especially in the tech sector, as a reliable pathway to self-reliance and global competitiveness.

“Technology is the future. African youths must seize this opportunity, take the bull by the horns, and earn their rightful place within the global tech ecosystem,” Nton Nton advised.

“Following politicians without vision won’t build careers. Learning a tech skill will," Nton Nton said.

He also issued a charge to all newly elected NYCN Local Government Chairmen, urging them to adopt inclusive leadership styles, encourage collaboration, and implement programs that put youth development at the forefront of their agendas.

“The youth community needs proactive leaders who understand the times we live in. We must see NYCN become a platform that truly reflects the aspirations of Nigerian youths,” Nton Nton added.

Known for his versatility, Hon. Bassey Nton Nton is not only an engineer and a cybersecurity and business enthusiast, but also a passionate writer, advocate for youth rights, and a practicing farmer. He concluded his statement by appealing to all tiers of government to prioritize youth empowerment, stressing that:

“Youths are not just leaders of tomorrow—they are the force driving today’s innovation. Investing in them is investing in Nigeria’s future," Nton Nton explained.
