The Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Professor Sunday Olowo Samuel, has confirmed that the body discovered on the university campus does not belong to a student of the institution.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, Prof. Samuel stated that investigations revealed the victim was brought from Ubiaja.
He added that the suspects responsible for the killing have been arrested and handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action, according to The Nation.
"We have investigated the matter and discovered that the victim was not a student of our university," Prof. Samuel stated.
"The suspects have been arrested and handed over to the State CID.”
The VC also announced measures to enhance security on campus, including banning students from driving on campus.
Earlier this month, the police reported the discovery of a final-year microbiology student’s body at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, days after she was reportedly declared missing by a close friend.
According to reports, the student, identified as Blessing, was last seen on Sunday, July 27, 2025, and missed a scheduled examination the following day.
Messages allegedly sent from her phone claimed she had been kidnapped and that a ransom was being demanded.
The friend who raised the alarm reportedly prevented other concerned students from searching Blessing’s residence, fueling suspicions about her whereabouts and safety.
Sources said the police, acting on a tip-off, found Blessing’s decomposed body on the university premises and immediately launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of her death.
Confirming the incident, the Command's spokesperson, Moses Yamu, stated that an official investigation has begun to unravel the details surrounding her death.
