The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has directed the arrest of a former employee, Olakunle Alex Folarin, for unlawfully retaining the Commission’s property, including an official identity card, following his dismissal.
Folarin, who served as a driver at the EFCC’s Ibadan Zonal Directorate, was recently dismissed after being found guilty of certificate forgery.
In a statement, the EFCC clarified that it has no affiliation with Folarin’s recent appearance on a matchmaking show hosted on Lege Miami’s social media platforms, describing his actions as personal and unrelated to the Commission.
EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, ordered Folarin’s arrest for failing to return official items belonging to the agency. The Commission also warned the public against linking his post-dismissal conduct with the EFCC, reaffirming its commitment to integrity and professionalism.
“The EFCC condemns in the strongest terms the involvement of its dismissed staff, Olakunle Alex Folarin, in a matchmaking programme circulating on social media,” the statement read.
“His conduct is entirely personal and has no connection with the EFCC.”
