Yes, I just need superior and constructive arguments/opinions on the above subject matter.
The LOCAL GOVERNMENTS is believed to be the third arm of government with full structure related to that of the states and the Federal Government in line with the constitution of the country.
This tier of government is the closest to the masses, i.e. it is the nearest point of call for the common man whenever government intervention(s) is/are needed at the grassroot.
In the years back, the local government staff are just bearing names and getting unnecessary promotions for work not well done or not done in some cases. The local government staff are always late to office, if they are even there at all.
In the recent time Governor Adeleke used Head of Local Government Administration (HLAs) who did absolutely no capital project, this implies that the workers in the councils has no contribution to the system of governance.
The explosion of it all is what we are witnessing in Osun State in the recent time, for over 6 months now the local government officials are at home doing nothing as usual and their salary are being paid for work not done. These civil servant has now turn partisans, supporting a ruling party, forgetting the ethics of civil service.
Now they're no where to be found in the local government Secretariats across Osun State but since February 2025 till date the returned elected officials according to Appeal Court are doing little they can do which the community are getting the impacts e.g on letter of identifications for students and those in need of it, registry, revenue generations, etc. Oh, the bible has said it that, God didn't fight a battle with multitude, so I am not surprise the few politicians are able to live up to the task.
It is now clear to us that the local governments workers can continue sitting at home in the name of fighting for a governor that will come and leave after four or eight years.
Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee NULGE should not cry if in future a Federal Government amends the constitution to proscribe the Local Government and turn it to just a ministry because Osun Local Government workers had made it clear to us that they are not needed, if for six good months they are not in their duty post and the impact is not felt by anyone.
Thousands of Nigeria Youths are out there looking for job and some people are getting salary without justifications, when will the youths rise up to change the narrative?
