Osun Govt, 18 Monarchs, Dignitaries Attend Ora-Igbomina Day 2025


The ancient town of Ora-Igbomina came alive on Saturday, 30th August, 2025, as the people rolled out the drums to celebrate the 10th edition of Ora-Igbomina Day, a grand occasion that attracted top government officials, no fewer than 18 traditional rulers, and dignitaries from across the country.


The Osun State Government, represented by top aides of Governor Ademola Adeleke, graced the colourful event, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to rural development and community advancement.


In his goodwill message, Governor Adeleke commended the Ora community for their unity, resilience, and continued efforts towards self-help development. He assured that his government would not relent in supporting initiatives that promote socio-economic growth at the grassroots.


The Akesin of Ora-Igbomina, Oba Samuel Oladoye Idowu, expressed profound gratitude to the governor for remembering Ora in his administration’s development agenda. He also lauded indigenes and friends of the town for their contributions towards the progress of the community.


In his keynote address, the Chairman of the Occasion, Bishop Felix Owolabi, who was represented by Engineer Olamilekan Omoyajowo, extolled the virtues of Ora-Igbomina people, noting that they have remained known for their resilience, integrity, and communal spirit. He backed his words with action by announcing a personal donation of ₦10 million to the development fund.


In his personal contribution towards the development of the town, Engr. Omoyajowo generously donated the sum of ₦750,000, reaffirming his commitment to the growth and progress of Ora-Igbomina.


Also speaking, the Special Guest of Honour, Hon. Clement Akanni "Olohunwa", Member representing Boluwaduro/Ifedayo/Ila Federal Constituency, praised the organizers of the event for their dedication in making the day a colourful and memorable one. 


Hon. Akanni who was represented by his aide, Hon. Saheed Lamidi further encouraged the indigenes to continue supporting developmental initiatives and pledged a donation of ₦2 million.


In the same vein, various compounds, families, and associations took turns to make generous contributions, demonstrating their commitment to the growth and prosperity of Ora-Igbomina.


The celebration featured cultural displays, fundraising for community projects, and recognition of prominent sons and daughters of Ora who have distinguished themselves in various fields.


Speaking at the event, leader of the Ora-Igbomina Central Working Committee, Otunba Ademola Adefila emphasized that this year’s celebration marked a milestone in the town’s history, as the community continues to pursue collective development with renewed vigour.


Highpoints of the occasion included royal blessings from the attending monarchs, traditional performances, and donations running into millions of naira to support ongoing projects in the town.


The event ended on a high note with renewed hope that Ora-Igbomina would continue to witness steady growth, unity, and recognition within Osun State and beyond.
