The Mashi Division of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspects for allegedly vandalising components of the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) 132kV Katsina–Daura high-tension line.
According to a statement released by TCN on Sunday, the suspects, identified as Hambali Abubakar, 25, and Salisu Abubakar, 18, both residents of Yar Riga Village in Mashi Local Government Area, were apprehended on August 12, 2025.
The duo was reportedly caught in possession of 24 pieces of dismantled tower members believed to have been taken from Tower T-148 of the 132kV Katsina–Daura line near Yar Riga/Sile Uku Village.
The statement read, "The Mashi Division of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended two suspects in connection with the vandalism of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) 132kV Katsina- Daura line high tension tower members in Mashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
"The suspects, identified as Hambali Abubakar, 25, and Salisu Abubakar, 18, both of Yar Riga Village in Mashi LGA, were arrested on the 12th of August, 2025.
"The suspected criminals were caught with 24 pieces of vandalized high tension tower members believed to have been removed from Tower T-148 of 132kV Katsina-Daura line along Yar Riga/Sile Uku Village."
