...Calls for Heightened Vigilance and Support for Security Personnel
The Chairman of the Osun State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Rtd) Wale Abbas, has strongly condemned the brazen assassination attempt on the Corps Commander, High Chief Dr. Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, which occurred on Monday night, October 6, 2025.
Commander Omoyele was reportedly ambushed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen while returning home from the office. He sustained gunshot injuries and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility. His condition is said to be stable, and he is under protective watch., the incident has been described as a deliberate and targeted attempt to silence a key figure in the ongoing efforts to combat crime and protect the people of Osun State.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the Corps' Public Relations Officer, Yusuf Idowu Abass, on behalf of the Board Chairman, AIG Wale Abbas (Rtd) expressed shock and outrage at the attack, labeling it “unprovoked, cowardly, and a direct assault on the peace and stability of Osun State.”
The Chairman urged the Police to leave no stone unturned in investigating the attack and bringing the perpetrators to justice. He also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperative with security agencies, especially in providing credible information that can help avert future threats.
AIG Abbas reaffirmed the commitment of the Amotekun Corps and other security agencies to safeguarding all lives and property in Osun State, stating that the cowardly attack would not deter the organization from executing its mandate.
“Let it be known that this incident will only strengthen our resolve to rid Osun State of criminal elements along other security agencies. We will not be intimidated. We call on all residents to stand united against violence, and to continue supporting security personnel,” he added.
