As the Alumni Association of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPAA), we are compelled to address the recent controversy surrounding the proposed Endowment Fund for graduating students. We understand that the initiative has been politicized, and our silence might be misinterpreted.
The Endowment Fund is a well-intentioned initiative aimed at generating revenue for the development of our alma mater. The fund will be managed by a special committee comprising representatives from the institution, the State Ministry of Education, Alumni, and student union representatives. This ensures transparency and accountability in the management of the fund.
Our institution has grown significantly over the years, and with growth comes the need for additional resources to maintain and improve infrastructure, facilities, and services. The Endowment Fund will provide a sustainable source of funding for infrastructure development, provision of modern facilities, support for research and innovation, and enhancement of student experience.
We understand that some concerns have been raised regarding the imposition of the Endowment Fund on graduating students. We want to assure the public that the fund is not intended to burden students or their parents. The management and governing council are committed to transparency and accountability in the management of the fund. Student representatives will be part of the committee overseeing the fund.
In light of the ongoing debate and concerns raised by students and stakeholders, the management has wisely decided to temporarily suspend the implementation of the Endowment Fund. We appreciate this gesture and believe it demonstrates the institution's commitment to listening to its stakeholders.
We urge all stakeholders, including students, parents, and the general public, to support this initiative and trust that the management and governing council will utilize the fund judiciously. We are committed to working with the institution to ensure that the Endowment Fund is managed in a transparent and accountable manner.
We want to categorically state that the management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, led by Mr. Alabi Kehinde, has acted in good faith and in the best interest of the institution. The decision to introduce the Endowment Fund was made with the intention of improving the institution's infrastructure and services. We exonerate the management from any malicious allegations or misinformation.
We believe that this initiative is necessary for the growth and development of our alma mater. We urge everyone to support this noble cause and work together to build a better future for our institution.
Signed,
Alhaji Yakub Akeem Adebayo
