Veteran actress Yemisi Adenekan, widely known by her screen name Iya Tinko, has shared the story of her marriage to her former husband, a physically challenged man, and the deep regret she feels for ignoring her mother’s advice before the union.
Speaking in an interview uploaded to Jeff Owolewa TV’s official YouTube channel, the Nollywood star revealed that her mother had warned her against marrying the man, but she dismissed the warning due to sympathy for him. She explained that her decision was influenced by her own past experience with an accident that almost led to the amputation of her legs.
“The breakup wasn’t because of my acting job,” she explained. “It was my ex-husband’s mother who destroyed our marriage. My mother warned me not to marry a disabled man, but I disobeyed her. I once faced a situation where I nearly lost my legs, and that made me feel empathy for him. Out of pity, I married him and had three children, but I later regretted it. His mother never allowed us to live in peace, and that’s why we eventually separate.
