31st OSPAA Anniversary: Alumni Body Showcases Major Achievements, Launches New Infrastructure

The Osun State Polytechnic Iree Alumni Association (OSPAA) has commenced activities marking its 31st anniversary, with National President, Alhaji Yakub Akeem Adebayo, reaffirming the Association’s commitment to advancing the institution and strengthening alumni collaboration across the country.

Speaking during a press conference held on Tuesday, 18th November 2025, at the OSPAA Secretariat in Iree, Adebayo described the anniversary as a celebration of resilience, unity, and sustained progress. He noted that over the past three decades, the Association has evolved from a small network of graduates into a dynamic body connecting professionals, innovators, entrepreneurs, and leaders in various sectors within and outside Nigeria.

Adebayo commended Osun State Polytechnic, Iree—established in 1991—for its continued role in shaping Nigeria’s technical and vocational landscape. He applauded the institution’s management team led by Comrade Alabi Kehinde Adeyemi, and the Governing Council chaired by Hon. Diran Ayanbeku, for their dedication to strengthening the institution’s mandate.

Major Achievements Highlighted

The OSPAA President outlined significant accomplishments recorded under the current administration, including strengthened partnerships with the institution, government agencies, and students; the launch of a globally accessible alumni website; and the establishment of new chapters in Ogun, Abuja, and Kwara States.

Other achievements include the digitalization of alumni processes such as elections and payment systems, the renovation of the OSPAA Secretariat, creation of an Alumni Relaxation Centre on campus, and the renovation of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) building. He also highlighted substantial improvements in alumni documentation processes and the introduction of a more robust welfare support system for members.

Adebayo attributed the progress to the collective effort of past and present leaders, acknowledging the contributions of former presidents Alhaji Rafiu Akinola Olaore, Chief Mrs. Omobola Adenike Odebode, and Prince Adegboye Olalekan Adenrele. He also praised the National Executive Council (NEC), Central Working Committee, State Chapters, Sets, Alumni Groups, and the Board of Trustees for their commitment and loyalty.

Anniversary Activities and Project Unveilings

This year’s anniversary, themed “Celebrating Our Past, Inspiring The Future”, features a week-long lineup of activities from 17th to 22nd November 2025. These include a press conference, courtesy visits, novelty football match, networking events, an anniversary lecture, cocktail session, and an award presentation ceremony.

A major highlight of the celebration is the unveiling of a multi-million-naira, 1,500-capacity Alumni Amphitheatre, along with a newly constructed School Gate Project. According to Adebayo, the projects symbolize OSPAA’s commitment to enhancing the institution’s infrastructure and improving the overall learning environment.

Reaffirming Commitment to the Future

Adebayo emphasized that the Association remains committed to supporting academic development, mentorship initiatives, infrastructural upgrades, and opportunities for both students and alumni.

He called on all alumni, partners, and well-wishers to actively participate in the anniversary celebration, noting that their support continues to inspire the Association’s vision of service and excellence.

“Together, let us continue to uphold the legacy of OSPAA and build a stronger foundation for generations yet to come,” Adebayo concluded.
